Moses
Moses was one of the greatest prophets, leader and teacher. He is called "Moshe Rabbeinu," which means Moses. He taught the Children of Israel and is known of the only one who has ever knew G-D face to face and mouth to mouth. He was born on 7 Adar in the year 2368 from the son of Amram. The name Moses came from the root "take out" because of Moses being taken out of a river. Moses was born in a very difficult time. In this case, Pharaoh ordered for all male children who was born to the Hebrew to be slaves and be drowned in the river. Later on in Moses life, when he was about 40 years old, G-D chose Moses to lead the Egyptians out of slavery. G-D then revealed the entire Torah to Moses. After Moses spent most of his life in the Torah and writing the first five books of the bible, Moses soon died in the year of 2488.
King David
Kind David lived from c.1040 BC - c.970 BCE. King David who is known for his diverse skills as both a warrior and a writer of psalms. In his 40 years as ruler, he united the people of Israel and led them to victory in battle. He was the eighth and youngest son of Jesse from the tribe of Judah. David’s first action as king was to capture what is now the City of David in Jerusalem. Only to later on fortify it and build himself a palace.
Abraham
Abraham was born under the name Abram in the city of Ur in Babylonia in the year 1948 from Creation (circa 1800 BCE). Abraham was also the son of Terach. He (Abraham) came to believe that the entire universe was the work of a single Creator, and he began to teach this belief to others. Abraham also tried to convince his father. Abram is referred to as a Hebrew (Ivri) because of him trying to convince his father. Abraham was soon growing old and he had no children. He had a wife named Sarai but no children by her. G-D knew how desperate Abraham was to have a child so G-D promised him a son by Sarai. G-D made some changes with the names of the two and they soon had a son named Isaac. A name derived from the word "laughter."
Isaac
Isaac was the subject of the tenth and most difficult test of Abraham's faith. According to Jewish tradition, Isaac new that he was to be sacrificed, yet he did not resist, and was united with his father in dedication. G-D soon sent an angel at the last moment to sacrifice. Child sacrifice was a common practice in the region at the time. Later then, Isaac married Rebecca who bore him fraternal twin sons named Jacob and Esau.
