The First Four Crusades
The First Crusade : This crusade took place from 1096 to 1099. This was the only crusade to capture Jerusalem. During this crusade , Pilgrims were kept safer on their travels because of it. Since this crusade was kept so far from home, Christians who owned land there had their land being kept from being taken or damaged. There were four leaders of this crusade. (Godfrey of Bouillon, Pope Urban II, Walter the Penniless, and Peter the Hermit.)
The Second Crusade : This Crusade took place from 1145 to 1148. This crusade's mission was to recapture Edessa. Since the crusaders did not succeed to get Edessa back, eveyone lost hope because the second crusade failed.
